Eleventh Finance Commission in its final report has recommended a sum of Rs.124.80 Crores as grant to the Urban Local Bodies for the year 2000-2005. The State Government had to provide 50% as matching contribution (if the ULBs cannot themselves contribution 50%)
The following works can be taken up under Eleventh Finance Commission :
1. Primary Education
2 Health Awareness Programme
3. Supply of drinking water
4 Fixing of Street Light
5 Programmes relating of UGD and Sanitation
6. Maintenance of Crematorium and Burial Grounds.
7. Programme relating to Public interest and consolidation of General
Assets.
8. The Eleventh Finance Commission grant can also be used for
a).Construction of Kitchen blocks in Government Schools.
b).Construction / repair of public toilets.
c).Rain Water harvesting.
d).Repair of roads.
Two years of the grants are earmarked for Solid Waste Management works in all the ULB’s (excluding the ADB Towns and BMP)
Government so far have released a sum of Rs.93.61 Crores to take up 11th Finance Commission works.
